Bluff Time Trial

Challenge yourself Friday night with the Midwest's only Running Time Trial. This event offers a unique experience for participants, climbing 500 feet over 1.5 miles. Instead of the traditional “mass” start, this event will be a single release start every 30 seconds. Every runner will have a pre-assigned start time, according to their estimated pace. This start time will be sent to participants prior to race day.

Packet Pick-Up

Packet Pick-Up and registration for this year's Bluff Time Trial will happen at the Grandad Half Marathon Expo at the Dahl Family YMCA (Downtown La Crosse) from 12pm-4pm on Friday, May 4th. as well as at the base of Bliss Rd. from 4:30pm-5:00pm immediately before the event start.


The Bluff Time Trial will begin at 5:30pm sharp on Friday May 4th at the corner of 28th St. S and Main St.


October 8th - October 14th: $20.00
October 15th - February 28th: $25.00
March 1st - April 30th: $30.00
May 1st - May 4th: $35.00


The Bluff Running Time Trial will be held in conjunction with the Cycling Time Trial. Cyclists will travel on the right side of Bliss Road to the Grandad Bluff Overlook while runners will stay left and finish just past the Alpine Inn.

Both cyclists and runners will have the middle of the road to travel back down on foot or bike, as the road will be closed to motorized vehicles. Participants and spectators have the option to wait at the top until 8:00PM, when the event is completed and Bliss Road is re-opened.

Yes, it is all uphill. The most difficult stretch is the first climb of 134 feet over 0.3-miles. For comparison, the infamous “Heartbreak Hill” of the Boston Marathon rises 88 feet over 0.4-miles.
